1. Who we are

Heart of the Home Cleaning (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a domestic cleaning service operating in Newcastle upon Tyne and the surrounding areas. Our website is heartofthehomecleaning.co.uk. For any data protection enquiry, contact us at info@bookaclean.co.uk.

2. What personal data we collect

We only collect what you type into our quote form:

• Your name
• Your email address and phone number
• Your postcode
• Your property details (number of bedrooms and bathrooms)
• Your cleaning preferences (how often, how many hours)
• The price we quoted you

We do not take payments through this website, so we never ask for or receive your card details. We do not create an account for you and we do not ask you to set a password.

3. How we use your data

We use your details for one purpose: to respond to your enquiry. When you complete the quote form, your answers are sent to us by email so that we can contact you about the clean you asked about. We may send you an email confirming that we have received your enquiry.

We do not use your details for marketing, and we do not sell or rent them to anyone.

Our lawful basis is Article 6(1)(b) UK GDPR: steps taken at your request before entering into a contract.

4. Who else handles your data

• Resend - delivers the enquiry email to us and the acknowledgement email to you. See Resend's Privacy Policy.
• Vercel - hosts this website. See Vercel's Privacy Policy.
• Google Ireland Ltd (Google Ads) - measures how well our advertising works. Only active if you accept cookies. See Google's Privacy & Terms.
• Hotjar Ltd - records how visitors move through the site so we can improve it. Only active if you accept cookies. See Hotjar's Privacy Policy.
• Postcodes.io - when you enter a postcode, we send just that postcode to this free public lookup service to work out the local area name. No other detail about you is sent with it.

Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we will only use providers who offer the safeguards UK data protection law requires.

5. Cookies, advertising and session recording

We advertise on Google, and we use a tool called Hotjar to see how people move through this website so we can work out where it is confusing. Both set cookies - but only if you accept them.

What Hotjar records. It replays how a visit unfolded: pages viewed, scrolling, taps and clicks, and how long each step took. It does not record what you type - form fields are hidden from the recording, and in our quote chat the messages showing your name, phone number, email address and postcode are hidden too. We use it to improve the website, not to look at individuals.

When you first arrive you will see a banner with Accept and Reject. Nothing is stored on your device for advertising until you choose Accept. Choosing Reject, or ignoring the banner, means no advertising cookie is ever set - the site works exactly the same either way.

We use no other analytics and no social media trackers. We do not use these cookies to follow you around other websites, and we do not sell advertising data.

Changing your mind. Select Cookie settings at the bottom of any page. The banner returns and advertising cookies stop immediately. Your browser settings can also clear or block cookies entirely.

One thing we store regardless: a single item in your browser's local storage remembering your cookie choice, so we do not ask on every page. It contains only the word “granted” or “denied”, never leaves your device, and is what makes honouring your choice possible - so it needs no consent of its own.

6. How long we keep your data

We keep enquiry emails for up to 3 years, so that we have a record of the work we quoted for and can answer any question that comes up later. After that they are deleted. You can ask us to delete yours sooner at any time - see section 8.

7. Data security

This website is served over HTTPS. Your enquiry is delivered to our email inbox, access to which is limited to the people who need it to arrange your clean. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information.

8. Your rights under UK GDPR

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Have inaccurate data corrected
• Ask us to delete it
• Ask us to restrict how we use it
• Receive the details you gave us in a portable, machine-readable form

To exercise any of these, email info@bookaclean.co.uk. We will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with our response you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect any changes.
